The usual one week orientation programme done at the beginning of each term guides Champions’ behaviours and expectations for the term. The programme, which started on Monday, 18th September, 2023, highlighted clear ways to drive discipline and sacrifice into a humble abode of the heart. After the thanksgiving songs, Mrs Abosede Adekeye, the CEO, welcomed the new and returning students into the 2023/2024 session, encouraging them to always respect and be good to their teachers as they are the trusted hands that can lead them to greatness.
"If you don't discipline yourself and sacrifice for what you want, what you want will become the sacrifice"
The transitioning of the orientation to the Director Of Studies, Mr Fola Adekeye’s speech brought the programme to expiration. He however made it known that discipline and sacrifice are two inseparable qualities and that these, he wants the students of Champions International Schools to possess. In his words, “If you don’t discipline yourself and sacrifice for what you want, what you want will become the sacrifice”.
He further said that the habitual distraction is the self created habits that hinder one’s studies like chatting endlessly with friends, visiting or playing with friends when there are better things to do, and so on. “Concentrate on your studies and keep distractions away from you through self-discipline and sacrifice to achieve your precious goals. Concentration requires repetition of study time”, he concluded.
As he continues, he educated the students on how to deal with external and internal habitual distractions that will not allow them concentrate on their studies. The external distraction, which he pointed out as engagements with physical related items like mobile phones and other 21st century gadgets, must not substitute their reading time. He then advised them to keep their gadgets with parents to allow them more room to study. The internal distractions, according to him, are their emotions in form of fear, doubt, worry, which can greatly influence their attitude towards studying. He encouraged them to not let these distractions get the better part of them.
