The inauguration of the junior college prefects in the school’s Africa Hall began with the opening prayer which was said by a parent, Pastor Oladejo. This action paved the way for both the Nigeria and Champions International Schools anthems.
After the music talents known as Champions Voices had lit up the momentous day with their songs of praises to God, the CEO of the school, Mrs Abosede Adekeye opened the inauguration ceremony as she regards the invited parents, staff and students of the school. Standing by the pulpit, the audience watched as she prayed for the newly selected prefects in their journey to becoming top academic examples. She also urged them to be of good moral behaviour in their dealings. “Continue to be good academically, be sound morally and let everybody see you as children of the most-high God”, she submitted.
Barrister (Mrs.) Victoria Odeku started her speech when she told the new prefects to always remember that they are the face of the school. “You are the face of the school, you are the face of yourselves and you are the face of your families”, she said. She advised them to work with integrity, humility, diligence, taking corrections among others. These are what she advised they possess to be good leaders. Also, she made it known that their present position is to serve and not to lord over their fellows.
Finally, she charged the parents imploring them to help their children navigate through the challenges of life.
However, the celebratory atmosphere, which was graced by the attendance of the school’s Director of Studies, Mr Fola Adekeye, Junior College Principal, Mrs Adesida, Associate Principals, Heads of Departments and parents, maintained its calmness until the swearing in of the prefects was done proper by the Barrister.
After the newbies declared to be of good leadership and firmly pledged to honour the college by doing their best to uphold discipline and moral uprightness in the school, also promised to be good children of God, music and cheers from well-wishers and parents brighten their joyful feelings as the felicitous moment began to wrap up.
The newly elected head boy, Victor Chidubem Ebiliekwe said his votes of thanks on behalf of other prefects while the college principal, Mrs Adesida said the closing prayer.
