Sexting, an abnormal social norm, has now become apropos in our society. This act which is not part of our culture is now being embraced by most teenagers of this current generation. Sexting is the act of sending nude pictures through different technological devices. This deleterious act has now become the centre of attention in our society. In this article, irrevocable results of this concupiscent act will be extensively discussed.
To begin with, sexting increases immorality that leads to societal degradation. This act has now become widespread among teenagers who are entrusted as the future leaders and the hope of generations to come. If our good culture of decency is exchanged with this parsimonious culture of sexting, it can lead to the loss of moral decency and raped dignity. What will become the fate of the coming generations if this ugly act is not nipped in the bud before it engulfs all our greenhorns?
Indubitably, rising engagements in sexting will groom pornography addicts. How? Sexting itself is pornography in the making. The more nude pictures are regularly exchanged and readily available for teenagers to watch, the more they become addicted to getting more. This can make them graduate to searching more wherever is available. Thus, sexting becomes inevitable.
According to many research, it has been observed that teenagers who involved in sexual activities in which sexting is included has a great harm on the cognition of the participants. Different studies have shown that the brain associated with thinking is affected making participants risk brain or psychological problem.
Also, this ugly act can open participants to blackmail. Blackmailing, in this sense, is the act of extorting or threatening people with the public release of their nude pictures. If victims are blackmailed, it can lead to suicide, public shame and stigma. These consequences may not only be shared by the victims alone but may also extend to their family members tarnishing the family name or image.
In conclusion, this peculiar behavior which is not considered idiosyncratic will lead to many problems in the future. It is high time we threw down the gauntlet against any form of sexual perversion and promiscuity. Parents, teachers, and people in the positions of authority should be counselors to our teens to form positive human who can influence the society positively. With this being done, we can have a glimpse of hope for a better future.
